More Holiday Train

« on: December 10, 2010, 10:40:32 AM »

well we're 2/3 of the way finished...currently in Edmonton AB, sitting at about -18. Did an intereview and song for Breakfast Television today and also did one in Calgary yesterday. Whoever thinks in their ultimate wisdom that musicians are made to wake up and play live on TV at 8:00 in the morning outside in -18 weather must be crazy!!! Or are we the band crazier for actually getting up and doing it?!?!?

Ah well hey, its all for a good cause. Actually a way bigger cause then I ever knew of before participating in the Holiday Train, but the money and food that this charity run raises for Food Banks all across Canada is enormous. In some communities that we play, the donations from the train event alone account for 50% of the donations they receive FOR THE WHOLE YEAR!!! On average the train accounts for 25% of Food Bank budgets across Canada for the year. Thats HUGE. And Food Bank demand is up 10% from last year, meaning that many more hungry families are turning to the Food Bank to feed their families. Its such a sad, sad situation that in our country this poverty exists and the powers that be dont seem to do a single thing about it. Ah, humanity...

Just so you know we're not slacking off and drinking egg nog all day, heres a shot of our Dec 7 schedule. We did 6 shows that day, the record so far is 8, but again, wake and shake, that 8:30 am Mortlach, Saskatchewan show is 6:30 am Vancouver time... Ouch my face!!!
